Reputed capo in the New England Mafia Robert “Bobby” DeLuca has indeed flipped and is cooperating with the feds. Sources have learned that DeLuca will act as a star witness and testify in the case against mobster James “Whitey” Bulger. Back in 1995 DeLuca was indicted on a plethora of racketeering charges along with Whitey Bulger , Francis “Cadillac Frank” Salemme, Steven “The Rifleman” Flemmi, and James “Jimmy the Bear” Martorano. But Bulger was tipped off and went on the lam while DeLuca pleaded guilty to multiple charges and served 34 months in prison.

Robert “Bobby” DeLuca

The power base of the New England Mafia has shifted from Providence to Boston and this move saw DeLuca losing his Rhode Island power base and standing with in the family. Then DeLuca suddenly vanished from his base on Federal Hill and his Providence home was sold. His wife and two kids were also disappeared with neighbors saying they seen a moving truck show up one day and they were all gone. The capture of Bulger oddly came as DeLuca was losing his power in his mob family and deciding to turn to the feds.

Many in mob circles feared that DeLuca was cooperating with the feds when he disappeared and now that it has been confirmed many with in the New England Mafia’s Patriarca family to which DeLuca was a member have to wonder when DeLuca will be lined up against them. DeLuca now becomes another in a line of high ranking mafia members to flip in recent years as the days of “Omerta” or the mafia code of silence becomes something from a bygone era.
